I generally find it very difficult to write and joke about things, so I write very neutrally about everything. It’s like keeping a diary.

One time, Coda posted a random idea of an image that gets compressed every time someone looks at it.

I’m sitting here, reading this and thinking - I might be able to do this really quickly, in an hour or two. As it happens, I’m on an intercity train right now with about two hours left in the journey - so I quickly whip up a Python script and upload it to Cohost. For the image, I obviously had to choose something free to use; and since I had recently been rewriting an article about the Game Boy, detailing the history of its display selection, I picked this one by Evan-Amos.

After publishing the post, I go about my business, only returning a couple of hours later. And I see that the image has already been heavily compressed, with a terrifying face appearing in the middle of the screen. It was a completely random but incredibly fortunate coincidence… and then a few hours later, the image deteriorates completely when some kind of write conflict occurs, apparently. And the Game Boy is left… bleeding, entirely, completely.

So what now? Who knows. But it was one of those memorable completely random organic events.

Sequence of images merged into a video, which by virtue of the compression resulted in the Blood Sea nightmarishly pulsing:

But I’ll be honest - I have no fucking clue what to write at the moment, since before Cohost I only had an old LiveJournal, which I stopped updating back in 2012 and mainly used as a diary. Twitter, in its time, completely ate my brain with people doing a lot of outrage-baiting, and it took a long time to recover from that.

Among other options, there’s Bluesky, but I’ve already seen how it’s slowly falling into the same problems, with groups of users ready to tear each other’s throats out… and every time, every single time, I feel sick when I look at it.

But enough talking about that. This was my previous website:

An old website mimicking Amiga user interface

That website was done on Rails in 2 days, with the goal to have some kind of a “homepage” with pages being displayed in separate windows… and then I stopped and forgot about it. So much that the Digital Ocean 512MB RAM droplet was sitting and eating my money every month until 2022.

I’m at loss. Now, this current website was made in two days, using simple styling and shortcuts, and uploaded to Neocities, because lately I feel a lot under the weather. But I hope I will be able to figure out something; with the projects like The Website League popping out.
